I want to dig a little deeper and cover a very specific SEO strategy that will drive additional traffic to your site.

In this blog post, I will explain how you can optimize your LinkedIn account in a way that not only strengthens your profile; it will help your overall SEO strategy as well! Sound good? Well, let’s get started…

Websites Section

Updating the websites section on a LinkedIn profile is the single most important change one can make to assist the SEO strategy of a company. See image below for reference

LinkedIn allows you to promote three separate websites within your profile. This is a great opportunity for you to create links that point back to your website!

Keywords

After you have selected “edit” you are now given the option to choose what kind of website you want to add to your profile.  For the purpose of SEO (which I’ll explain in a second), please select “Other” from the menu.  As mentioned before, you can add up to three sites, which I strongly recommend.

For each website, you should look at which keywords you really want to target on your site. In the description of the site, place the desired keyword and link it to the corresponding page. Now you have created a backlink to your site using that specific keyword! LinkedIn is a very trusted domain name, which makes these backlinks all the more valuable.

More Than One Employee?

If your employees have a LinkedIn account, encourage them to help in this SEO strategy. Maybe they have a different job role than you do, great! You can now use keywords that reflect their job function and target a broader range of keywords.
