8 Ways to Drive Traffic to Your Blog

Main |

There is no point in a blog that no one reads, so I have devised a list of key things to do in order to help drive quality traffic to your super awesome blog.

1. Share the link

Don’t be shy! Share your link on Facebook and Twitter. Odds are, you have one or both and an entire network of people who would click that link. By sharing your content you will significantly increase your blog traffic. People who care about you will want to read what you share, and if they like it enough they will share it too.

Which leads me to my next point…

2. Quality Content

If you are writing terrible posts, no one will read them. Be sure to write quality content. If you try to write about an area where you are uneducated, it won’t provide for quality, sharable and linkable content.

3. Analytics

Install analytics and take a look at what your site is doing. Google Analytics is free, and will allow you to see where your traffic sources originate, where quality traffic is coming from and how you can improve

4. Structured categories

If you organize your blog with a great tagging system, your SEO will improve, so be sure to create order from the chaos that can be blogging, and organize. Not only will those who visit your blog be able to find content that is relevant to them easily, they will be able to easily reference old posts that really blew their mind.

5. Variety of authors

Make sure you don’t have the same person posting over and over again. The great thing about company blogs is the ability to feature different voices with different skill sets. I could never write about testable code like Preston did. So make sure to tag each author and make sure their name is SEO searchable. I know a lot of people think I’m a cool cat and Google me. By providing a SEO searchable author account for me, my fans can find my posts just by Googling “Jeannine Seidl.” Easy peasy!

6. Writing guest blogs

You can drive a lot of traffic to your site by offering to do some guest blogging for other popular blogs. Submit a blog to a popular related industry site and link back to your company’s blog. Those who appreciate what you have to say will dig deeper and link back to your home blog. It’s an incredibe way to increase visibility. The clearer people can see you, the more they will look.

7. Guest bloggers

Feature bloggers from other places. By linking to other blogs with great visibility, you are not only promoting them, they will promote you in return. Sharing is caring, it’s fun. Barney told me so.

8. Company Newsletter

Company newsletters can easily link directly to your blog. People who sign up for your newsletter are interested in what you have to say. Providing links makes it easy for those who are interested to keep up.

I guarantee if you follow these tips, you will drive traffic to your site. Preferably in a convertable. Ha. Kidding :)
