Situation

In late 2009, Graham & Brown, a designer wallpaper distributor headquartered in the United Kingdom, entered into a Monthly Acceleration Program agreement with Spartan Internet. Over the next several months, we were able to identify opportunities that inevitably led to improved performance online.

However, during the spring of 2010, it was determined that the conversion rate of the website was not increasing proportionately to the large influx in visitors. We knew we had to come up with a solution that maximized the performance of the conversion funnel without damaging the integrity of the website.

Solution

In mid-2010, with the help of Graham & Brown, we implemented a new, single step checkout process. This new checkout process reduced the number of steps visitors had to take to purchase from four to one. Not only that, but we enhanced the overall design of the shopping cart to meet the high standard already present throughout the website.

Results

Following the successful implementation of the new checkout process, Graham & Brown experienced a significant increase in conversion performance. Prior to the launch of the new checkout, Graham & brown lost approximately 48.00% of their visitors during the checkout. The new, single-step checkout helped Graham & Brown retain nearly 70.00% of visitors. This equated to higher sales and a stronger post-shopping cart conversion rate.
